University/College Grant for a
Romanian-Canadian Student
Purpose: ORCA Student Grant is a fund focused on supporting Ontario resident students financially, but also to recognize and reward academic performance and extra-curricular activities.
Audience: College/University Students, Grade 12 Students who are planning to pursue post-secondary studies full-time and they were formally accepted by the educational institution.
Value: ORCA will award 3 (three) $1000 CND Grants in 2014, consisting of One Thousand Dollars ($1000) CND cheque made payable to the applicable Grant recipients.
Eligibility: Applicants must be an Ontario Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident in Ontario who are enrolled in a post-secondary program (College or University).
Selection criteria will include:
- Essay: “What does my Romanian heritage mean to me” – 500 words (5 points)
- Students from low or middle-income families pursuing full-time post-secondary studies (4 points)
- Having achieved an academic standing of a minimum 70% or “B” average, during the last year (4 points)
- Employment background (1 point)
- Volunteer/leadership roles in school/community organizations and/or sports (1 point)
- Volunteer activities for the Romanian Community (bonus 2 points)

- Essay: “What does my Romanian heritage means to me” – 500 words
- A copy of your University/College/Grade 12 transcript of marks
